After many discussions, consultations with other agronomists across the Corn Belt we are sharing what the early root studies at the Orthman Research Farm dug up.
Nitrogen losses were very obvious this year even with some of the best management programs out there. Did your soils remain cold and wet long into July? Take a look at what happened in Central Nebraska. We would suggest your fields had the same issues and N losses hurt growth and yields along with the wet field conditions.
